i watched the pilot and first episode of Fringe last night. i also watched the interviews with the writers, etc on the disc wherein they were so proud of themselves for not showing their stuff to anyone or bringing anyone in with ideas contrary to their own. they kept it "pure." OMG. they kept it pure drivel anyway. i was pleased that they made it all the way through the pilot without any torture scenes, but other than that Fringe seems to be a not-very-carefully-constructed melange of the X-files, Alias, and Lost. it's like Abrams took the leftovers of his not very well written but successful series and appropriated the X-files serving platters and set out a meal of overcooked mush and underdone plots spiced with not very likeable or interesting characters. i admit to watching all of Alias. but the plots were horrific. as were the fight scenes. i guess i have to confess an addiction to women heroes who kick ass. the other actors (besides Jennifer) in Alias were quite interesting too. by which i DO NOT mean that their characters were interesting. i quit Lost about midway through season four. i only stuck with it that far because [info]justmealex owned it. but i wouldn't have wasted Netflix rentals on it after season two. i didn't watch the X-files when it was being broadcast, and even when i rented it, i only watched the "arc" eps that Wikipedia listed for me. but it was 400x better than Fringe in every respect. so... conclusion: i won't be renting any more of Fringe no matter if Pacey is in it.

before you congratulate me, please understand that i never made a decision not to smoke. i never tried not to smoke. i wasn't planning to stop smoking. i have four cartons of cloves that arrived the day before i stopped smoking. i stopped because it made me nauseated. i don't like being nauseated. so ... no smoking. i'm not fighting cravings. i don't have wild urges. i'm still pretending to smoke with my friends (because i really do love smoke breaks). i'm just not... smoking. weird, huh?
